but after posting for weeks, suddenly, your blog isn't what you want it to be... you want a different look from everyone else. maybe you tried to change your formatting yourself, but it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to. the pictures are moving around. the text is acting weird. your fonts are mis-behaving. suddenly, the face you're turning to the online world has developed a nervous tic. and you haven't the first idea where to start, to fix it. you tried changing the html. you tried altering your template. but it just isn't doing it.
relax. this blog design stuff might be mysterious to you, but some of us have been working with exactly these kinds of issues for over ten years. we've sat in dark cubicles in the corners of web services companies, haggling with html... crunching css... immersing ourselves in javascript... nobody's known we were there, because the jobs we do are so essential, that the highest praise anyone can give our work, is that nobody knows we ever did it.
my name is kay stoner, i'm one of those people. and i'm here to help.
i know css. i know html. i know javascript. and i can help you overcome your wailing and gnashing of teeth about your blog acting up. and i can do it for $40/hour. it usually takes between 30 minutes and an hour, for me to get to the bottom of blog design woes. sometimes, if you've got a doozie of a problem or you want to add more enhancements, it can take longer, but i work very quickly. i'm also available right now, to help you.
to hire me, you'll need to send me:
- a detailed list of the things that distress you about your blog
- a detailed description of what you want your blog to ultimately look like (pictures are helpful)
- when you need it by
i take paypal -- if you don't have a paypal account, you can still pay me via paypal with a credit card. (i may be adding clickbank, if there's demand -- let me know if that's how you'd prefer to pay.)
i love what i do. and i'd love to do it for you. so contact me today at kaystoner @ yahoo.com about how i can make your blog look just the way you want it to.
getting back to basics
over the past 10 years, we've seen tremendous growth in the online community, and much of our success has gone to our heads. after weathering the dot-com bubble burst of a few years ago, we're looking around and realizing, we're still here, and the web is still a great way to connect with people, do business, educate and entertain ourselves, and get involved in the world beyond our immediate circle of friends and family.
but the online world of 1997 is no more. it's no longer enough to slap together an html page and post it to a server and call that a web presence. technology has advanced, our expectations have increased, and the complexity of our systems has almost crowded out the joy we once felt at this new medium, which isn't quite so bright and shiny as it once was.
sitebasics.net is about bringing back some of the enthusiasm -- and common sense -- around internet technologies and quality web presences. complexity does not necessarily equate with sophistication, no matter what some might say, and we need to shed some of our headiness in our relentless pursuit of the idea technical solutions to mundane problems. sitebasics.net is about continuing the education of the invested many (who are growing more each day), continuing the discussion about what place the web has in our business and personal lives, and shedding headiness for pragmatism, trading in some of our artificial complexity for the sake of true sophistication.
we're still here, the web is still here. let's get back to basics.
